As a practicing psychiatrist, Dr. Karns specializes in mental health with a focus on inpatient care. The focus of inpatient care is to stabilize the patient’s symptoms, improve emotional well-being, and restore functional abilities to help patients manage their daily lives. She works at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Following the completion of her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010, Dr. Karns went on to further her education. She completed her residency in psychiatry at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Passionate about her profession, she attributes her success to her love of psychiatry, her desire to see patients get better, and her strive to make a difference. She is board-certified in psychiatry & forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
